Only a few months ago the famous twin brothers Wladigeroff released their third jazz album, entitled “Dreaming of Dreams”. Now Konstantin Wladigeroff will present his versatile sound compositions at the European Tolerance Talks in the Carinthian mountain village Fresach (Friday, May 22, 10 pm). In the Evangelical Church Fresach the Bulgarian musician performs with Michel Nahabedian (saxophone), Dimitar Karamitev (flute) and Hans Tschiritsch (water droplets installation). They deliberately flirt with pop sounds and modern grooves derived from Latino and Funk. The pedigree of Wladigeroff family is widely spread and complex. Mother Welichka is an actress, sister Ekaterina musician, father Alexander conductor, even the blood of the creator of Doctor Zhivago, Boris Pasternak, is flowing in their veins. The third generation of musicians with full commitment and heart, the Wladigeroff Brothers were born in 1978 in Sofia and showed at an early age markedly musical talent. The twins are, just like their grandfather Pancho Wladigeroff and his twin brother Lyuben, Bulgarian composers. Pancho is regarded as Bulgaria’s best-known composer. He was the first who combined the Bulgarian folk music with Western art music. Such a powerful spiritual heritage can be a burden, but the Wladigeroff Brothers shoulder it with ease. Alexander (trumpet, flugelhorn, piano) and Konstantin (piano, clarinet, composition and vocals) had studied briefly at the Music Academy Pancho Wladigeroff in Sofia before they came to Vienna in order to perfect their musical art by further studies and practice. The brothers have quickly become session and theater musicians with an excellent reputation. Already on their debut album “Wanderer in Love” in 2007, they managed a certain musical distance to their family clan to afterwards preserve their own profile. With “For the Greatest Little Things” 2011 their striving for the ideal fusion traditional Balkan melodies with soft, jazzy tunes reached new heights. The brothers won a number of competitions and prizes at international festivals and occur both solo and together in Europe often with own compositions. Both are also constantly engaged at the Burgtheater and Volkstheater in Vienna. http://wladigeroff.com
