How do we deal with the increasing disruption of international relations? The 11th European Tolerance Talks from June 1 to 7, 2025 will deal with the topic “Madness – World in Disorder?” – and the focus will be on the diverse worries and concerns about the increasing erosion of the rules that have been in place for decades in international relations. This year it is no longer just about news manipulation and alternative facts, but about actual disruption. Over 30 experts from philosophy and religion, business and science will contribute to the debate.

Europe in upheaval, the world out of joint. Since 2025, the geopolitical cards have been reshuffled, and on a scale never seen before: the newly elected US president is breaking with all conventions that were considered immutable in recent decades. Tariffs are the USA’s new “magic word”, China, as the new central power in the Pacific, is resisting, Russia’s war machine stuttering – and in between, there’s a Europe that must reorient itself, perhaps even defend itself.

The European Tolerance Talks 2025 are dedicated to the madness of the powerful and the (injured) dignity of human, they face reality when utopias fail, they deal with the division and polarization of society and the indignation and anger of the neglected, invisible citizen who sees himself as being overwhelmed and taken advantage of. This is precisely the strategy of the forces that strive for absolute power and torpedo the democratic discourse that functions on an equal footing.

Decisions are made here and now, hopefully in the interests of the people in every single country. In Fresach we want to address a few aspects and questions of disorder and give a little hope by developing possible answers.
