The annual exhibition 2015 at the Cultural Centre Fresach is dedicated to the history of the hymn. Under the motto “VoicePower” (StimmKraft) it delivers visible and audible impressions from the Reformation to the present. “The healing power of singing should be experienced through this exhibition,” Superintendent Manfred Sauer said. “At the same time we want to re-motivate people to sing.” Music is a companion in different circumstances of life, and indispensable in times of joy as well as suffering and sorrow. “People had always thereof drawn strength, comfort and confidence.” About 300 songs, poets and composers are presented, including, of course, Martin Luther, Johann Sebastian Bach, Elisabeth Cruciger, a friend of the Luther family. “But we want to make music experienced for other senses,” said the responsible Curator Hilde Schaumberger, e.g. by a large singing bowl into which visitors can step in so that their body can virtually experience as a sound body. “This is also an opportunity for the deaf, to make the experience of music,” Peter and John Grassmayr of the bell foundry in Innsbruck explained, where the cup was made. The exhibition “voting power – write hymns history” in Fresach runs until 31 October. More to find here.
