The Evangelical Diocesan Museum Fresach has been awarded the Austrian museum seal of approval. The young museum, incidentally Europe’s only museum of tolerance, was just opened in 2011. At that time the newly built museum building was awarded the Construction Award of Carinthia. The memorial to the history of Protestantism in Austria is a popular place for high-profile events and exhibitions. The current award is a sort of recognition for the fulfillment of historical minimum standards. 223 museums from all over Austria has been awarded since 2002. A delegation of the Tolerance Centre received the award on Monday at Vienna’s Museum’s Quarter: “I am more than proud that we received this seal of approval”, says Hilde Schaumberger, managing director of the Cultural Center Fresach. The young museum is constantly developing high-quality exhibitions, lectures and events. Until 31 October, the current exhibition “Stimmkraft” (Power of Voice) can be seen yet. On October 31, it ends with a concert evening by the Singgemeinschaft Oisternig and Bernarda Fink – “Voice of power” in perfection. The focus in 2016 will be the “Transmigration”. (ws)
