Literature on a high level und performance ready for the stage: the participants of the Young Poetry Slam of Fresach convinced and filled the audience of the first European Tolerance Dialogues on Whitsuntide at the Carinthian mountain village with enthusiasm. Helmuth A. Niederle, President of the PEN writer’s guild praised the quality of the contributions and announced the publication of the works in the reader to the European Tolerance Dialogues 2015, which will be published in the summer. http://www.penclub.at The dialogue forum of Fresach http://www.fresach.org ended on Saturday with a literary competition. In the course of the Poetry Slam young poets presented their lyrics on the topic “5 Minutes Tolerance – how far goes your patience?” and set a creative conclusion for the event. The ten authors from Carinthia showed European standards, translator Fabjan Hafner commented, they are all winners. The contest was organised by Carmen Kassekert, already a legend in the slammer scene. The contest was offered a reward by the Club Carinthia in Vienna http://www.club-carinthia.at and curated by the PEN-Club Austria. Five young male and five female slammers faced the judgement of the audience, who distributed their favour by the volume of their applause, hecklings and seven at random selected judges. Three ladies came into the final, Estha Sackl (23) from Steindorf, Tijana Pajic (31) from Klagenfurt and Sabrina Öhler (20) from Spittal an der Drau. As they all finished with equal scores they could all three take their gift baskets home with them. Price money is not the custom at the Poetry Slams. Asylum seeker bingo – refugees at the centre Estha Sackl convinced with two grandiose performances, the empathetic dialogue “You have not patience” and a defence speech in Carinthian lingo “Yeah, I’m tolerant”, that she called “asylum seeker bingo”. Tijana Pajic provided thigh slappings, she is from Klagenfurt with “Balkan background” (see image above). In her provocative witty contribution “Yugo” she pronounces migration as a “fad” and immigrants of various origins (Aphgans, Chechens, Albanians) as dog breeds (Chihuahua, Maltese, Pekingese). “Everyone today provides himself with a migrant, and he has not even to be leashed.” The youngest female slammer, Sabrina Öhler, began with a touching “lament” on personalities who became blood sacrifices to intolerance and finished with a rhetoric reproach to the audience: “you just have set off 300 bombs”. In her final contribution bulimia, “throw up into the bog” or rather “swallow it” it similarly covers the things in the world that go wrong and the handling thereof. Also all the other participants were able to compete well. The local hero Patrick Steiner from Fresach presented a suicidal sketch on the stage under the title “who am I”. “M” he said at the end stands for (Mut)=courage, but it certainly was “M” as (Mensch) human, that triggered emotions. Participants from Bad Kleinkirchheim: I want a minaret Very original in his presentation was Gerhard Pleschberg (G. of the Tschern) from Gad Kleinkirchheim, who compared the situation of today’s Moslems with the situation of the Protestants in the 18th century and ponderously announced: “I want acceptance, not tolerance. I want a minaret!” Further participants were Simon Martischitz from Gailtal (checkmate – the whole world in the tent), the “stuttering Japanese” Michael Martin Wiener, the “sonorous voice” Lukas Hofbauer (18) from Klagenfurt (“Let’s be children once again”) and “All wrong” Angela Ahlheim as well as Nicole Hohenwerter, Klagenfut with “shop, shop, shop”.
