Topic 2025: New World Disorder

“Madness – a world in disarray?” is the theme of the 11th European Tolerance Talks from June 1 to 7, 2025 – and the focus is on the diverse worries and concerns about the increasing erosion of the rules of the game in international relations that have been in place for decades, the consequences of the “America First” policy. More than 30 experts from philosophy and religion, business and science will contribute to the debate.
Europe in upheaval, the world out of order. Since 2025, the geopolitical cards have been reshuffled, and on a scale never seen before: the newly elected US president is breaking with all the conventions that were considered immutable in recent decades. Tariffs are the USA’s new “magic word”, China, as the new central power in the Pacific, is holding its ground, Russia’s war machine is stuttering – in between, a Europe that has to reorient itself, perhaps even defend itself against its transatlantic ally.
