Human Rights and Democracy Human rights are fundamental principle rights intrinsic to every person regardless of nationality. They should serve as a protective shield of the individual from state interference. Democracies bind themselves to the protection of rights. In view of the enhanced human rights protection and monitoring capabilities on the one hand, the fundamentalist tendencies on the other hand; some social scientists propose in the 21st Century the end of democracy as it is understood today in the Western sense and the deconstruction of human rights. If this development is not countered clearly and without ambiguity, it will lead to restriction and hence destruction of various freedoms and interference on choices and actions.
